IRS Proposes Regulations for Digital Asset Reporting and Backup Withholding

The IRS has proposed new regulations requiring digital asset trading platforms, payment processors, and hosted wallets to report information on digital asset sales and exchanges, as well as real estate reporting persons to report the fair market value of digital assets received in real estate transactions, in response to changes made by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
