NHTSA Extends Parking Brake Requirements to Larger Vehicles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has amended the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard on hydraulic and electric brake systems to require all multipurpose passenger vehicles, buses, and trucks with gross vehicle weight ratings over 10,000 pounds to have parking brakes meeting the same performance standards as heavy school buses.
