Safety Standard for Cigarette Lighters: Commission Seeks Comments on Proposed Rule

The U.S. Commission is proposing a rule to regulate the safety of cigarette lighters, following a petition from the Lighter Association, Inc. in 2001, and a vote to adopt a voluntary standard in 2004. The Commission is seeking public comments on the potential risks of injury and regulatory alternatives to address these risks.
