CMS Releases Interim Final Rule to Implement COVID-19 Vaccine and Treatment Coverage Under CARES Act

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released an interim final rule (IFC) to implement the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), which covers COVID-19 vaccine and treatment costs for Medicare patients. The rule requires healthcare providers to disclose cash prices for COVID-19 diagnostic tests and establishes payment schemes for new treatments under the Medicare Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) and Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS).
