FSIS Eliminates Pizza with Meat and Sausage Standards
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is eliminating the regulatory standards for 'pizza with meat' and 'pizza with sausage' as they no longer serve their original purpose of protecting consumers from economic deception. The new standards allow for more flexible labeling, requiring only the presence of meat or poultry and other distinguishing features in the product's name and ingredients list.
