Modification of the Community Development Block Grant Definition for Metropolitan City and Other Conforming Amendments

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has issued an interim rule to update the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program regulations, replacing the term 'central city' with 'principal city' to align with the Office of Management and Budget's (OMB) revised standards for defining metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas. This change aims to ensure consistency with the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 and HUD's terminology.
