Medicare and Medicaid Programs: Delay of Effective Date for Physician Referrals Rule

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has further delayed the effective date of a rule regarding physician referrals to healthcare entities with which they have financial relationships until July 7, 2004, to allow for reconsideration of the definition of 'set in advance' compensation methodologies and minimize disruptions to existing contractual arrangements.
