IRS to Offer New Transmitter Encryption Options for E-file Program

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will start supporting approved encryption methods for the 2005 and later filing seasons, starting with the Acceptance Testing System (ATS) in late 2004, and will begin discontinuing non-encrypted transmission options for the 2005 filing season.
