NHTSA Receives Petition for Importation of Nonconforming Mercedes Benz E Class Cars

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has accepted a petition from a company to allow the importation of 2003-2004 Mercedes Benz E Class (211) passenger cars that do not meet all federal safety standards, as they are substantially similar to compliant US-made vehicles and can be easily modified to meet standards.
