FDA Approves Olestra as Food Additive for Direct Human Consumption

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved olestra, a synthetic fat substitute, for direct addition to food products intended for human consumption, allowing manufacturers to label their products as 'olestra-free'.
