Department of Defense Implements New Health Care Payment Rules

Summary

The Department of Defense is adopting a new 'reasonable charge' basis for health care payments, replacing the previous 'reasonable cost' basis, and will use CHAMPUS payment rates as the basis for these charges, in accordance with provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2000 and Section 732 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2002.
