Requiring Certification of all Service Approved Schools for Enrollment in SEVIS

The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) is requiring all schools approved to enroll nonimmigrant students in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) to obtain certification. This rule aims to enhance the review and certification process of schools, which was initially mandated by the Homeland Security Directive No. 2 in 2001 and further reinforced by the Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act of 2002.
