EPA Approves Louisiana's Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance Program

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved a revised State Implementation Plan (SIP) for the Baton Rouge nonattainment area, which establishes a Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance (I/M) Program requiring On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) testing and gas cap pressure checks for eligible vehicles, effectively eliminating a sanction clock that had been stayed since 1999.
