Atlantic Bluefin Tuna Fisheries to Close Early Due to Quota Attainment

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has announced that the Atlantic bluefin tuna General category quota will be reached by October 25, 2002, prompting the closure of the fishery at 11:30 p.m. that day to prevent overfishing, with the total adjusted quota standing at 777 metric tons.
