EPA Proposes Administrative Settlement with NEXTEL Communications, Inc. Over Clean Water Act Violations

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has entered into a proposed consent agreement with NEXTEL Communications, Inc. and its subsidiaries, and NII Holdings, Inc., to resolve Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act violations at 48 facilities where they stored diesel oil in above ground tanks, and eight facilities where they failed to obtain operating permits or exemptions.
