Medicare Program; Changes to Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System and Calendar Year 2003 Payment Rates

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a final rule with a comment period to revise the Medicare hospital outpatient prospective payment system, implementing statutory requirements and addressing changes to payment rates for services provided on or after January 1, 2003. The rule also allows for the suspension of Medicare payments if a provider fails to file a timely cost report.
