FCC Adopts Phased Implementation of Spectrum Efficiency Requirement for Public Safety Agencies

The Federal Communications Commission has adopted rules to promote efficient use of the 700 MHz public safety band, requiring a single migration path to meet a spectrum efficiency requirement of one voice channel per 6.25 kHz by 2010, while avoiding hindrance to public safety equipment development and deployment.
