FAA Proposes Airworthiness Directive for Aerospatiale ATR42-500 and ATR72-102 Airplanes
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes a new airworthiness directive to replace insulation blankets made of metallized polyethyleneteraphthalate (MPET) on certain Aerospatiale Model ATR42-500 and ATR72-102, -202, -212, and -212A airplanes, following reports of in-flight and ground fires caused by these blankets. The proposed directive aims to prevent the spread of fires from small ignition sources.
