U.S. Import Administration Issues Final Rule for Steel Import Licensing and Surge Monitoring Program

The U.S. Import Administration has issued a final rule requiring steel importers to obtain a license from the Department of Commerce before completing Customs import documentation, in order to implement the Steel Import Licensing and Surge Monitoring program originally outlined in the President's 2002 steel safeguards proclamation.
