Nuclear Regulatory Commission Confirms Effective Date for Revised Spent Fuel Storage Cask Regulations

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has confirmed the effective date of February 12, 2002, for a direct final rule that revised the regulations for the Transnuclear West, Inc. Standardized NUHOMS -24P, -52B, and -61BT cask system, allowing the storage of low-burnup spent fuel in the NUHOMS -24 canister and correcting administrative errors in the Technical Specifications.
