NRC Denies Union of Concerned Scientists' Petition for Mandatory Performance Indicator Submission

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has denied a petition from the Union of Concerned Scientists to require nuclear power plant licensees to submit performance indicator information on a mandatory basis. The current voluntary program meets the NRC's needs, and a rulemaking would not be necessary unless circumstances change in the future.
