SMUD Seeks Exemption from Seismic Retrofitting Requirements for Rancho Seco Nuclear Plant

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) has submitted a request to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) for an exemption from the state's seismic retrofitting requirements for the Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station, a nuclear power plant located in Rancho Cordova, California. The exemption would allow the plant to continue operating without undergoing the costly retrofitting process.
