NHTSA Receives Petition for Importation of Nonconforming Smart Passion Cars

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has accepted a petition from the Micro Car Company to allow the importation of 2003-2004 Smart Passion passenger cars that do not meet all federal safety standards, as they can be modified to comply with regulations.
