Submission for OMB Review; Comment Request- Safety Standard for Automatic Residential Garage Door Operators

In the Federal Register of April 1, 2003 (68 FR 15707), the Consumer Product Safety Commission published a notice in accordance with provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35) to announce the agency's intention to seek extension of approval of the collection of information in the Safety Standard for Automatic Residential Garage Door Operators (16 CFR Part 1211). No comments were received in response to that notice. The Commission now announces that it has submitted to the Office of Management and Budget a request for extension of approval of that collection of information without change for a period of three years from the date of approval. The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 1990 (Pub. L. 101- 608, 104 Stat. 3110) requires all automatic residential garage door openers manufactured after January 1, 1993, to comply with the entrapment protection requirements of UL Standard 325 that were in effect on January 1, 1992. In 1992, the Commission codified the entrapment protection provisions of UL Standard 325 in effect on January 1, 1992, as the Safety Standard for Automatic Residential Garage Door Operators, 16 CFR Part 1211, Subpart A.
