Coast Guard Proposes Relaxation of Hull Identification Number Regulations for U.S. Recreational Boat Manufacturers

The U.S. Coast Guard is proposing to relax regulations on Hull Identification Numbers (HINs) for U.S. manufacturers of recreational boats, allowing them to display a 2-character country of origin code alongside the 12-character HIN, without the need for separate borders or labels, in order to comply with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) HIN standard and facilitate exports of U.S.-made boats.
