FCC Proposes Changes to Allow Mobile Satellite Service Providers to Reuse Spectrum for Better Service Quality

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is considering proposals by two Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) operators to allow them to reuse their assigned spectrum over land-based transmitters to improve service quality, particularly in areas where satellite signals are blocked by buildings or obstacles. The FCC is seeking comments on approaches to permit more flexible use of MSS spectrum, which could lead to lower prices and higher quality of service for rural and underserved areas.
