NMFS Adjusts Atlantic Bluefin Tuna Retention Limits for Remainder of 2025

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has determined to adjust the daily retention limit for Atlantic bluefin tuna (BFT) for recreational anglers in the United States, effective for the remainder of 2025, or until further modification. The new limits allow one BFT per vessel per day for private vessels with HMS Angling permits, and two BFT per vessel per day for charter boat and headboat vessels with HMS Charter/Headboat permits, with specific size restrictions.
