NIST Proposes Withdrawal of HMAC FIPS Standard

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking public comment on its proposal to withdraw FIPS 198-1, the Keyed-Hash Message Authentication Code (HMAC), from the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) series, which governs secure data handling in the US government and private sector.
