Determination of Overfishing or an Overfished Condition

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has issued a notice on behalf of the Secretary of Commerce, stating that Atlantic blue marlin continues to be overfished. This determination is a requirement under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, which mandates that NMFS provide such notices whenever it determines a fish stock is overfished or approaching overfishing conditions.
