FAA Proposes New Airworthiness Directive for McDonnell Douglas MD-11 Series Airplanes

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain McDonnell Douglas Model MD-11 series airplanes to address a potential safety issue with the overhead decoder units (ODUs). The proposed directive would require inspections and replacements of affected ODU(s) to prevent moisture from entering the system and causing a short, damage to the connector pins, and consequent smoke and/or fire in the cabin.
