Japan Added to BSE-Infected Regions, Import Restrictions Imposed

The US is amending its regulations to include Japan in the list of regions where bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) has been detected, in an effort to prevent the introduction of the disease into the country, and to restrict the importation of ruminants and certain animal products from Japan.
