EPA Reclassifies San Joaquin Valley Ozone Nonattainment Area, Extends Attainment Deadline for East Kern County

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is reclassifying the San Joaquin Valley ozone nonattainment area, separating out East Kern County, and extending the attainment deadline for the new area from November 15, 1999 to November 15, 2001. The EPA also requires the state to submit a severe area ozone nonattainment plan by May 31, 2002, to meet the Clean Air Act's requirements.
