Mandatory Ship Reporting Systems

The Coast Guard adopts, as final, with changes, its interim rule published on June 1, 1999. The interim rule implemented two mandatory ship reporting systems in an effort to reduce the threat of ship collisions to endangered northern right whales (also known as North Atlantic right whales). The final rule clarifies reporting requirements.
