FAA Issues Airworthiness Directive for McDonnell Douglas DC-9-10, -30, and -40 Series Airplanes and C-9 Airplanes
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a new airworthiness directive requiring McDonnell Douglas Model DC-9-10, -30, and -40 series airplanes and C-9 airplanes to revise the wiring of the sidewall lights in the passenger compartment to prevent overheating and potential smoke or fire. The directive aims to address an identified unsafe condition where the control switch of the cabin sidewall lights could overheat, causing short circuits and smoke in the passenger compartment.
