NMFS Closes Pacific Cod Fishing in Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is closing directed fishing for Pacific cod by vessels using hook-and-line gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area due to concerns about exceeding the 2001 bycatch allowance for halibut in this fishery category.
