MARAD to Consider Request for Administrative Waiver of Coastwise Trade Laws

The U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) is considering a request for an administrative waiver of the coastwise trade laws, allowing a vessel to operate in a new area. If the waiver is granted, it would not be issued if it is deemed to have an adverse effect on U.S.-vessel builders or businesses using U.S.-flag vessels.
