FDA Clears Disulfiram Tablets for Sale, Citing Lack of Safety or Effectiveness Concerns

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ruled that disulfiram (Antabuse) 250- and 500-milligram tablets, previously marketed by Wyeth Ayerst Pharmaceuticals, were not withdrawn from sale due to safety or effectiveness issues, allowing the FDA to continue approving abbreviated new drug applications for these products.
