FDA Releases Updated Guidance on Use of Potassium Iodide in Radiation Emergencies

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has made a guidance document titled "Potassium Iodide as a Thyroid Blocking Agent in Radiation Emergencies" available, updating its previous recommendations on the use of potassium iodide (KI) to prevent thyroid cancer in the event of a radiation emergency, with new lower exposure thresholds and dose recommendations for vulnerable populations.
