EPA Raises Concerns Over Upper Newport Bay Restoration Project DEIS

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has expressed concerns over the Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Upper Newport Bay Restoration Project in Orange County, California, citing the need for air quality mitigation measures and the lack of evaluation of reasonable alternatives to reduce sediment deposition and beneficial re-use of dredged material. The EPA also questioned the necessity of securing Clean Water Act Section 401 water quality certification or waiver from the state water pollution control agency.
