Revisions to Social Security Administration's Regulations for Recovering Supplemental Security Income Overpayments

The Social Security Administration (SSA) proposes to revise its regulations to allow for the recovery of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) overpayments by adjusting the amount of social security benefits payable to individuals. The proposed changes would limit the practice to those not eligible for cash payments under any provision and would not exceed 10% of the title II benefits unless a higher amount is requested or willful misrepresentation is involved.
