EPA Establishes Time-Limited Tolerances for Pesticide Emergency Exemptions

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has finalized a rule governing the establishment of time-limited tolerances and exemptions for pesticide residues resulting from emergency use, in response to a request under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) section 18. This rule aims to ensure timely decisions on tolerance-related issues, by evaluating each petition on a case-by-case basis to determine if reliable data are available to make the required safety finding under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) section 408.
