EPA Proposes New Emission Standards for MSW Landfills
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposes new national emission standards for hazardous air pollutants (NESHAP) at municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills, aiming to reduce emissions of toxic chemicals such as vinyl chloride, ethyl benzene, toluene, and benzene. The proposed rule fulfills the Clean Air Act requirements and aims to protect public health by controlling emissions to the maximum achievable control technology (MACT).
