NMFS Completes ESA Status Review for Pacific Cod, Hake, and Walleye Pollock Populations in Eastern North Pacific Ocean

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has completed a review of the endangered species status of Pacific cod, Pacific hake, and walleye pollock populations in the eastern North Pacific Ocean, between Puget Sound and southeast Alaska. NMFS has determined that these populations do not meet the criteria for listing as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), but has identified the Georgia Basin Pacific hake population as a candidate species due to uncertainties about its stock structure.
