US EPA Announces Proposed Administrative Settlement for Palmyra Atoll Acquisition

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has executed a proposed Agreement and Covenant Not to Sue (Prospective Purchaser Agreement) with The Nature Conservancy to resolve potential claims under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980, related to the acquisition of Palmyra Atoll, a 680-acre coral atoll in the Pacific Ocean, to preserve it as a wildlife refuge.
