EPA Finds Regulation of Hazardous Air Pollutants from Coal- and Oil-Fired Power Plants Necessary
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a finding that regulating emissions of hazardous air pollutants from coal- and oil-fired electric utility steam generating units is necessary under the Clean Air Act. This decision is based on the results of a 1998 study and subsequent information on mercury emissions from these units, which pose a significant threat to public health.
