Nuclear Regulatory Commission to Host Meeting on Burnup Credit for Spent Fuel Shipping Casks

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is convening a meeting with 15 top technical experts from around the world to develop a Phenomena Identification and Ranking Table (PIRT) that will enable the application of burnup credit in spent fuel shipping casks, a move aimed at addressing technical issues related to criticality safety analyses of Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) spent fuel in transport casks.
