EPA Reopens Comment Period for Federal NO X Budget Trading Program Data

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is reopening the comment period for data related to the proposed Federal NO X Budget Trading Program, which aims to reduce interstate transport of ozone by controlling nitrogen oxide emissions, until September 24, 1999. The program was proposed in rulemakings under Sections 126 and 110 of the Clean Air Act, and the EPA is soliciting comment on 1997 heat input data for all Electric Generating Units (EGUs) reporting under the Acid Rain Program.
