United States Develops National Plan of Action for Shark Conservation and Management

The United States is creating a National Plan of Action (NPOA) to conserve and manage sharks, following a UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Committee on Fisheries (COFI) recommendation in 1999, in response to growing concerns about shark catches and their impact on populations.
