National Forest System Land and Resource Management Planning

The Department requests comment on a proposed rule to guide land and resource management planning for the National Forest System. This proposed rule describes the framework for National Forest System planning; makes sustainability the foundation for National Forest System planning and management; and establishes requirements for implementation, monitoring, evaluation, amendment, and revision of land and resource management plans. The intended effects are to simplify, clarify and otherwise improve the planning process; to reduce burdensome and costly procedural requirements; and to strengthen collaborative relationships with the public and other government entities.
