NMFS Announces Intent to Prepare Environmental Impact Statement for Atlantic Highly Migratory Species Fisheries

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to assess the impact of management strategies on the Atlantic coastal waters of the United States, with the goal of reducing bycatch of endangered species such as swordfish and sea turtles, and to inform the public of the draft Technical Memorandum that provides background information on the proposed alternatives.
